TOI TOI WINES COLLECTS 93 points and a GOLD Medal
AT THE SAN FRANCISCO WINE & SPIRITS COMPETITION
Toi Toi Wines is thrilled the quality of its hero Toi Toi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has been affirmed, by receiving a gold medal at one of world’s most influential wine and spirits competitions.
Toi Toi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016 was awarded a Gold Medal and 93 points, at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) this week.
Founded in 2000, the SFWSC is one of the oldest and most respected drinks competitions of its kind. This is due to its rigorous judging which occurs over four days with a large international team of judges sampling wines in highly controlled blind tastings. Judges do not receive any information on producer or price point, ensuring each wine is judged fairly, equally, and without bias.
The Toi Toi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016 San Francisco Wine & Spirits Competition Gold Medal comes after recent accolades at home. At one of its first wine shows, New Zealand’s New World Wine Awards, the Toi Toi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016 achieved a Gold Medal and ‘Top 50’ wine status.

Toi Toi harvested its Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the cool, early morning to preserve flavour and aroma. Fruit was then de-stemmed, crushed and lightly pressed with minimal skin contact. Clear juice was fermented in stainless steel at low temperature using selected yeasts chosen to preserve fruit flavour. Following fermentation to enhance texture and complexity, the wine was left on light lees for three months before blending and bottling in early July 2016.
The Toi Toi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016 is pale straw, with intense aromatics of red currant, citrus and tropical fruit. A fruit driven palate offers classic Sauvignon Blanc herbal, citrus, pineapple and passionfruit flavours, with a long clean fresh and crisp finish. Toi Toi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016 is perfect as an aperitif or with a meal. The Toi Toi team suggests Spaghetti with clams, which benefits from a splash of the wine!
Toi Toi Wine was established in 2006 and over the past 10 years it has grown into one of New Zealand’s top 25 wineries recognised globally for its Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Central Otago Pinot Noir. Toi Toi wines is owned by Kevin and Sara Joyce and their family and their winemaking philosophy is one of terroir – the best vineyards in the best New Zealand grape regions. Toi Toi only makes Pinot Noir from its Central Otago Clutha vineyard, Chardonnay from its Brunton Road, Gisborne vineyard and Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris from its Marlborough Brookdale vineyard.
